The Assistant General Manager of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Emad Al-Zaid, confirmed on Tuesday the Chamber’s full readiness to support the business community and facilitate communication between Kuwaiti and Swiss companies, thereby contributing to enhancing growth opportunities and achieving shared interests.

This statement was made by Al-Zaid during the Chamber’s reception of a Swiss economic delegation led by Patrick Tran, Chairman of the Swiss-Kuwaiti Business Platform, and attended by the Swiss Ambassador to Kuwait, Tiziano Balmeili.

Al-Zaid highlighted the deep bilateral relations between Kuwait and Switzerland, noting that the visit comes at a highly significant time, coinciding with the official visit of the President of the Swiss Confederation to Kuwait on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two friendly countries.

He emphasized that the visit reflects both sides’ commitment to strengthening cooperation across various fields, particularly economic and commercial, and underscores mutual dedication to expanding partnerships and creating new investment and business opportunities.

He pointed out that bilateral trade and investment form a cornerstone of the cooperation journey between the two countries, noting that the volume of trade between Kuwait and Switzerland exceeded 800 million US dollars in 2024. He also highlighted the contribution of Swiss companies in implementing various projects and services within Kuwait, alongside the interest of Kuwaiti investors in the Swiss market as a “stable and reliable destination for investment.”

For his part, Tran stated in a similar address that the two-day Swiss-Kuwaiti Business Event aims to enhance communication among participating delegations and open new horizons for joint cooperation, based on a vision grounded in building sustainable partnerships between the two sides.

He added that “Switzerland is known not only for its global status but also for its values and commitments,” noting that the Swiss delegation includes a select group of experts in education, medical excellence, high-tech industries, as well as luxury and finance sectors.

In his remarks, Ambassador Balmeili expressed his deep gratitude to the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry for hosting the Swiss delegation, emphasizing the importance of this meeting in supporting bilateral economic relations.

He reaffirmed the commitment to providing all forms of support and services to the Kuwaiti private sector to enhance commercial cooperation and facilitate mutual investment opportunities, expressing his aspiration to expand trade and investment relations with Kuwait across various sectors.

The Swiss delegation included representatives from 14 Swiss companies operating in fields such as family business consulting, wealth management, construction technology, luxury watchmaking, real estate, cybersecurity, life sciences, education, and sports technology.

It is worth noting that the Swiss-Kuwaiti Business Platform (SKBP) is an official institutional initiative aimed at strengthening bilateral economic relations between the Swiss Confederation and the State of Kuwait.
