The Diwan Amiri of Qatar announced that His Highness the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, received a telephone call today from U.S. President Donald Trump.
The statement said that “during the call, the strategic relations between the two countries and ways to support and strengthen them were reviewed, and the latest developments in regional conditions were discussed, particularly recent diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions in the region.”
The statement continued, “In this context, His Highness the Emir and the U.S. President discussed the latest developments in international efforts, particularly the initiatives undertaken by the State of Qatar to bridge differences among the concerned parties and support the negotiation process, paving the way for a comprehensive agreement that ends the crisis and ensures security and stability in the region.”
It added, “His Highness emphasized in this regard the importance of continuing dialogue and relying on diplomatic means to resolve disputes, sparing the region further escalation, and ensuring freedom of maritime navigation and the security of energy supplies.”
