The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi discussed the “latest developments” in diplomatic efforts aimed at establishing stability in the region during two separate phone calls on Thursday with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

In Ankara, Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud emphasized, during his meeting with his Turkish counterpart Mustafa Cevdet, that directives from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman stress the importance of continuing to strengthen existing security cooperation.

He noted that the longstanding historical and fraternal relations between the two countries have become a model of cooperation and coordination across various fields, affirming that the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense, signed by Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan, “reflects the depth of relations between the Kingdom and Turkey, as well as the convergence of strategic interests and orientations, within the current geopolitical environment, and represents an important step that embodies the wisdom of the leaderships of both countries in confronting crises.”

The meeting also discussed ways to enhance security cooperation and coordination in areas of mutual interest, intensify efforts to combat terrorist and extremist groups, and fight transnational crimes, including drug trafficking and distribution, amid the challenges facing the region and the world.
