Ban on photography, recording, and live broadcasting at work sites in Kuwait International Airport to safeguard security and privacy

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has banned photography, recording, and live broadcasting at work sites within Kuwait International Airport, under a new circular that applies to all employees and entities operating at the airport, with violators subject to legal accountability, in order to safeguard the privacy of passengers and staff, as well as the security of critical facilities and infrastructure.
Acting Director General of GACA, Engineer Saad Al-Otaibi, confirmed to “Al-Rai” that the ban took effect as of today, November 5, and covers passenger terminals, administrative and technical buildings, aprons, security and operational zones.
Al-Otaibi told “Al-Rai” that Circular No. 60, issued on this matter, prohibits the use of mobile phones equipped with cameras, standalone cameras, or any other technological means for photography, recording, or live broadcasting from within work sites at the airport. He noted that the ban extends to passenger terminals, administrative and technical buildings, all sites and buildings under GACA, as well as aircraft parking aprons, work areas, zones related to security and inspection procedures, surveillance cameras, aircraft movements, and operational activities.
He added that this measure stems from the sensitive nature of the airport and aims to protect the privacy of staff and passengers, preserve information and sites linked to security and safety, and ensure that no images or recordings compromising operational confidentiality or public interest are disseminated or published.
