The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that this came during a phone call between the two ministers, during which they discussed efforts made in coordination with regional and international partners, including the United States and Qatar, to restore calm and prevent the resumption of military confrontations.
The statement added that the two ministers emphasized the need to exercise wisdom and pursue dialogue, allowing more time for diplomacy and political processes, and encouraging all relevant parties to negotiate and show the necessary flexibility to spare the region from the negative repercussions and risks of renewed confrontations, which it continues to suffer from.
Both sides agreed to continue coordination and consultation, and to intensify efforts and communications with various relevant parties in the current period, in an effort to reach a consensus on prioritizing the negotiation track and committing not to take any escalatory steps that could lead to a deterioration of the security situation or an increase in tensions in the region.
