Jordan’s General Security Directorate mourned the martyrdom of a corporal who was killed in a cowardly terrorist attack while carrying out his official duties in the capital, as well as the wounding of an officer, according to the Jordan News Agency (Petra).
The agency, quoting the General Security’s media spokesperson, said that at 12:20 p.m. on Thursday, an individual ambushed and attacked a General Security officer in Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah Street in the capital, stabbing him with a sharp object. This prompted an immediate response from a patrol unit, whose crew engaged the attacker, subdued the situation, and arrested him.
The agency noted that the wounded corporal was rushed to the hospital but later died, while the officer was taken to the hospital for treatment and is in stable condition. Security authorities have begun interrogating the attacker, who is identified as the perpetrator of the assault. Preliminary investigations indicate that he had planned and intended to carry out the terrorist attack against General Security personnel.
