The Pakistani cabinet approved on Wednesday a defense cooperation agreement between Pakistan and the State of Kuwait, aimed at enhancing defense collaboration between the two friendly countries.
The office of the Pakistani Prime Minister said in a statement that “the approval came during a meeting held by the cabinet in the capital, Islamabad, chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif,” noting that the agreement was reached on June 11, 2023.
In a related development, Sharif emphasized during the meeting Pakistan’s continued sincere diplomatic efforts to establish peace and stability in the region and to reduce tensions, pointing out that regional unrest is one of the main causes of the global rise in oil prices.
He added that Pakistan plays an active role in supporting peace efforts, highlighting the recent visit of a Pakistani delegation to Tehran, which included Army Chief General Asim Munir, and the talks held between senior officials from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Turkey.
He clarified that the talks took place in a positive atmosphere and addressed ways to enhance coordination and mutual understanding in the region, in line with the agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.
