Kuwait’s Minister of Finance, Dr. Yaqoub Al-Rafai, held talks on Tuesday with several officials on the sidelines of Kuwait’s participation in the 42nd Ministerial Meeting of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC), held in Istanbul, Turkey, to explore ways to enhance economic and developmental cooperation.
The Ministry of Finance stated in a press release that Minister Al-Rafai discussed with the UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, Dr. Thani Al-Zayani, the latest developments regarding the ongoing crisis in the Strait of Hormuz and its repercussions on energy supply chains.
He further clarified that Minister Al-Rafai met with Ms. Sara Al-Shoura, Executive Director of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Women Development Organization, congratulating her on her appointment as Executive Director and wishing her success and effectiveness in fulfilling her duties.
According to the statement, Al-Rafai reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to continuing its support for OIC institutions and strengthening the Organization’s role in empowering women and supporting their participation in achieving sustainable development in member states. He called for activating the Organization’s role and enhancing its contributions to effectively support women’s issues and achieve tangible, positive impact in this field.
He noted that both sides expressed their appreciation for the existing relations between Kuwait and the Center, and their aspiration to continue cooperation in line with global economic developments and current international economic conditions, contributing to the development of joint programs and projects and achieving tangible results that benefit OIC member states.
