The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Tuesday that Pyongyang dismissed U.S. allegations that it was behind a multi-billion-dollar hack of digital assets from the Binance exchange as “mere absurd rhetoric.”
On Saturday, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) accused North Korea of being behind the theft of more than $6 billion in digital assets from the Binance cryptocurrency trading platform, which could represent the largest financial heist in history.
Citing Kim Yo-jong, a senior official in the ruling party, KCNA stated, “The FBI is attempting to label North Korea as an electronic criminal state, claiming it has information indicating the involvement of a North Korea-backed cyber-hacking organization in the incident.”
She added, “It is a serious political provocation against North Korea for the United States to mislead international public opinion into believing that all cybercrimes around the world are of our making.”
