Abdullah Al-Sarheed, president of the Kuwait Fishermen’s Union, announced the return of Kuwaiti “mid” fish to the fish market after a period of absence, with approximately 650 baskets of fresh mid fish entering the market at prices ranging between 50 and 60 Kuwaiti dinars per 20-kilogram basket.

Al-Sarheed told “Al-Rai” that “the mid fishing season began on the first day of November and will continue through the end of the month.”

He expressed hope that improving weather conditions and the influx of large quantities of fish would contribute directly to lowering prices in favor of consumers, who turned out in large numbers for the auction. He noted the union’s aspiration for basket prices to drop to acceptable levels ranging from 50 to 40, 30, and 20 dinars to support consumers.

Al-Sarheed pledged that fishermen would do their utmost in the coming days to ensure the availability of all these fish and their sale within the local market, preventing any from being exported, so they remain accessible to everyone at the lowest possible prices.
