Amid the ongoing “genocide war” in Gaza since October 7, 2023, eight Palestinians, including a child and five Hamas-affiliated police officers, were killed and around 20 others were injured in two Israeli air strikes on the cities of Khan Younis and Gaza on Sunday afternoon.

Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said, “Our teams evacuated eight martyrs, including a child, in two strikes carried out by the Israeli Air Force,” noting that “five martyrs were killed in a strike on the Mawasi area in Khan Younis, and three others were killed in a strike targeting the Al-Rimal neighborhood in Gaza City.”

The Ministry of Interior, run by Hamas, stated in a statement that “occupation aircraft targeted several police officers and personnel while performing their duties in the Mawasi area in Khan Younis,” confirming the recording of “a number of martyrs and wounded.”

According to sources, the attacks were not limited to aerial bombardment, as Israeli tanks and military vehicles fired heavily west of Beit Lahiya town and around Kamal Adwan Hospital in the north of the Strip. The city of Hamad and its surrounding tents in the north of Khan Younis were also targeted, while Jabalia Balad saw the injury of several other Palestinians, including a woman in critical condition, due to gunfire on the Halawa displacement camp.

Dr. Abu Salmea warned of a “catastrophic situation facing Al-Shifa Hospital and all hospitals in Gaza due to the acute shortage of medical supplies, medicines, and equipment, which leads to the recording of more martyrs and deaths.”

Alongside the military escalation, the Gaza Winter Emergency Committee warned of an impending humanitarian disaster as weather fronts approach, emphasizing that around 7,800 tents are located in dangerous areas including wadi beds, rainwater collection ponds, and coastal areas, in addition to the presence of around 200,000 dilapidated tents sheltering hundreds of thousands of displaced people.

In the West Bank, Israeli forces continued their military aggression against the city of Hebron for the tenth consecutive day, amid tightened sieges on wide neighborhoods and forced displacement affecting hundreds of families, despite the ceasefire agreement that began last October.
