Anwar Gargash, the diplomatic advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates, expressed hope for a “diplomatic breakthrough” regarding the war in the Middle East, while affirming that the UAE remains prepared for the “worst-case scenario.”
Speaking at the annual “Manama Dialogue” forum on Sunday, he said, “We hope for a diplomatic breakthrough... We do not wish to see another round of confrontation,” adding, “However, as we have shown on previous occasions, we are prepared for the worst.”
He further stated that “trust with Iran has been shaken,” emphasizing that “traffic in the Strait of Hormuz must return to its pre-February 28 levels.”
He clarified that the security of the Gulf states is interconnected, and that any impact on one of them affects the United Arab Emirates.
