This statement was made by Minister Al-Hawila on the sidelines of the Turkish Embassy’s celebration in Kuwait, held on Thursday to mark the 103rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic. The event took place at the Sheraton St. Regis Hotel and was attended by senior Kuwaiti officials, heads of diplomatic missions, members of the diplomatic corps, business community representatives, and members of the Turkish community, with Minister Al-Hawila serving as the guest of honor.
Al-Hawila conveyed the congratulations of the State of Kuwait—leadership, government, and people—to the Republic of Turkey on this occasion, emphasizing the deep historical ties between the two countries and their continuous development and close cooperation across various fields.
For his part, the newly appointed Turkish Ambassador to Kuwait, Jan Oguz, affirmed his country’s firm solidarity with Kuwait, strongly condemning the attacks that targeted it and recalling Turkey’s tangible support for Kuwait’s security and defense.
In his speech during the celebration, Oguz stated that Kuwait-Turkey relations can be summarized by three key concepts: “Potential, Promises, and Partnership,” reflecting promising opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation and elevate it to broader levels.
He noted that both countries have significant opportunities to expand cooperation in defense, healthcare, tourism, agriculture, and trade sectors, pointing out that Kuwait’s acquisition of “Bayraktar TB2” drones opened a new chapter in the defense cooperation between the two nations.
He recalled the historic visits of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to Turkey in May 2024, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Kuwait in October 2025, affirming that elevating bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership marked a pivotal milestone in the trajectory of relations between the two countries.
He indicated that this partnership rests on three pillars: the close friendship and mutual trust between the leaderships of both countries; institutional cooperation that both sides seek to strengthen through the strategic dialogue mechanism; and the deep-rooted bonds of friendship and solidarity between the Kuwaiti and Turkish peoples.
On regional issues, Oguz stressed that Turkey, under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, continues to pursue a strong, independent, and multi-dimensional foreign policy, actively contributing to supporting peace, security, and stability at both the regional and international levels.
He noted that his country’s policy is guided by the vision of the Republic’s founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, based on the principle of “Peace at Home, Peace in the World,” recalling Atatürk’s and his comrades’ contributions to establishing the Republic and consolidating the principles of sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. He expressed confidence in the future of Kuwait-Turkey relations, affirming continued joint efforts toward a stronger and more prosperous future for both countries.
Regarding economic cooperation, the Turkish ambassador highlighted the contributions of Turkish companies to development in Kuwait, alongside the growing interest of Kuwaiti investors in investing in Turkey.
He shed light on the second terminal building project at Kuwait International Airport, implemented by the Turkish company Limak, considering that the project will contribute to enhancing air connectivity and consolidating Kuwait’s position as a regional and international aviation hub.
