SRC accredited Al-Jahra Hospital as a “Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery” and granted Dr. Mohammed Al-Jasmi, Head of the Surgery Department at the hospital, the “Distinguished Robotic Surgeon” certification for the period from October 2026 to 2029.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Jasmi, Head of the Surgery Department at the hospital, stated that the robotic surgery program launched its first procedures on April 27, 2025, with a total of approximately 200 surgeries performed, encompassing general surgery, urology, and various specialized surgical fields.
In the context of cooperation among Ministry of Health hospitals, three remote robotic surgeries were carried out in October 2025 for patients diagnosed with uterine cancer. This was achieved through collaboration between the Gynecologic Oncology Unit at Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital and the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Al-Jahra Hospital, enabling the integration of specialized expertise across the two institutions and leveraging the capabilities of remote robotic surgery.
