A specialized economic report published on Saturday stated that the liquidity volume of the Kuwait Stock Exchange during the first ten months of the current year (covering 202 trading days) reached approximately 17.131 billion dinars (around $52.763 billion).
The report by Al-Shal Consultancies clarified that the average daily trading value for the period stood at approximately 84.8 million dinars (around $261 million), representing a decline of about 23.9 percent compared to the average daily trading value for the same period in 2025, which was approximately 111.4 million dinars (around $343 million). It also noted a 21.2 percent decrease compared to the average for the full year 2025, which was approximately 107.6 million dinars (around $331.4 million).
The report indicated that trading activity in October 2026 was lower than in September 2026, with a decline in the average daily trading value across all market indices. The First Market index fell by approximately 3.0 percent, the Main index by 7.0 percent, and the General index by the same margin, reflecting an overall market performance of 3.7 percent. The Main 50 index experienced a sharper decline of approximately 7.7 percent.
According to the report, absolute stock exchange liquidity in October was lower than in September, reaching approximately 1.482 billion dinars (around $4.564 billion) compared to 2.448 billion dinars (around $7.539 billion) in September, marking a decrease of 38.5 percent.
The average daily trading value for October was approximately 70.6 million dinars (around $217.4 million), representing a drop of 36.6 percent from the September average of approximately 111.3 million dinars (around $324.8 million).
The report stated that liquidity trends since the beginning of the year indicate that half of the listed companies accounted for only 7.8 percent of total liquidity. Among these, 50 companies captured just 3.1 percent of liquidity, while two companies recorded no trading activity whatsoever.
Regarding relatively small and liquid companies, the report noted that 12 companies, representing approximately 3.6 percent of the total market capitalization of listed firms, accounted for about 20 percent of stock exchange liquidity. This means their share of liquidity was approximately 5.5 times their contribution to market capitalization.
This implies that significant liquidity activity continues to exclude about half of the listed companies, while conversely, it strongly favors companies with minimal market capitalization.
The report highlighted that the First Market received approximately 945.4 million dinars (around $2.9 billion), or 63.8 percent of total stock exchange liquidity. Within this market, about half of its listed companies accounted for 77.9 percent of its liquidity and 49.7 percent of the entire stock exchange’s liquidity, while the other half received the remainder, or approximately 22.1 percent of its liquidity.
Furthermore, the Main Market received approximately 535.6 million dinars (around $1.6 billion), or 36.2 percent of total stock exchange liquidity. Within this market, 20 percent of its listed companies accounted for 81 percent of its liquidity, while the remaining 80 percent of companies captured only 19 percent of its liquidity, indicating a high level of liquidity concentration.
The report noted that the Main Market’s share of total trading value during the first ten months of the current year amounted to approximately 36.1 percent.
The report concluded by comparing liquidity distribution between the First and Main markets, observing a decline in the Main Market’s share of total liquidity for the year-to-date period in 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. In 2025, the First Market’s share was 55.5 percent, leaving approximately 44.5 percent for the Main Market’s liquidity.
