Kuwait drew 1-1 with Saudi Arabia on Friday in the opening match of the second edition of the GCC Veterans Football Championship, organized by the Gulf Cooperation Council Football Association in cooperation with the local organizing committee in Qatar. The tournament runs until November 5.

The first half of the match, held at the Saudi bin Abdulrahman Stadium in the Qatari capital, ended with Saudi Arabia taking a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal by Mohammed Amin in the 15th minute.

In the second half, Ali Al-Maqshad equalized for Kuwait from a penalty kick in the 74th minute.

In the second match played at the same time at the Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium, Qatar defeated Bahrain 2-0, with both goals scored by Meshal Abdullah.

In the third match, the United Arab Emirates beat Yemen 2-0, with goals from Faisal Khalil. Meanwhile, Iraq defeated Oman 5-0, with goals scored by Hamadi Ahmed, Saleh Saeed, and Hayder Sabah.

The tournament draw placed Kuwait in Group A alongside defending champions Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Group B includes host nation Qatar, along with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Yemen.

Matches are played in two halves of 20 minutes each, with unlimited substitutions allowed. If any knockout stage match ends in a draw after 40 minutes, it proceeds directly to a penalty shootout to determine the winner.

The tournament features 15 matches hosted across three venues: Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium, Ahmed bin Ali Stadium, and Saudi bin Abdulrahman Stadium.
