Britain announced on Wednesday the allocation of new aid to Ukraine worth 10.5 billion pounds ($13.95 billion), to be disbursed in installments over the next three years.
The British Prime Office confirmed in a statement that Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Chancellor of the Exchequer John Helly informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of this decision during a phone call, providing him with details of the planned assistance.
The statement clarified that 500 million pounds ($664.46 million) of the total new aid constitutes additional military support from the British Ministry of Defense to address gaps in Ukraine’s air defenses during the current winter.
It noted that economic support worth seven billion pounds ($9.30 billion) will be provided over three years, while three billion pounds ($3.98 billion) will be allocated to Ukraine through the UK Export Finance agency, with military support taking priority.
The statement emphasized that this aid package represents the largest financial assistance ever provided by the United Kingdom to Ukraine, underscoring the British government’s commitment to ensuring that Ukraine has the necessary means to defend itself.
