Ministry of Labour: Additional deadline until 2028 to complete accreditation of engineering qualifications

The Public Authority for Manpower has granted an additional deadline to workers registered under engineering occupations to complete the procedures for recognizing and approving their academic engineering qualifications with the Ministry of Higher Education, provided that the work permit expiry date does not exceed June 30, 2028.

In Circular No. 5 of 2026, issued on Tuesday and reviewed by Al-Rai, the Authority clarified that the decision comes in line with its commitment to ensuring the continuity and stability of the status of workers registered under engineering occupations who were previously granted an exemption to complete the procedures for approving their academic certificates but have not yet completed them.

It added that benefiting from the additional deadline requires the worker’s electronic consent to the attached declaration via the specified link through the Sahol government application, enabling the issuance or renewal of the work permit for the engineering occupation in accordance with the stipulated regulations. The Authority stressed the necessity of completing the qualification approval procedures within the specified deadline, noting that failure to comply will result in the implementation of prescribed measures in accordance with the governing regulations and decisions.
