The National Cybersecurity Center and Kuwaiti telecommunications company stc launched a national cybersecurity awareness campaign as part of national efforts to enhance a more secure digital environment by raising awareness of digital risks and cyber fraud, and by encouraging safe practices when using digital services and platforms.
Designed within the framework of stc’s corporate social responsibility and its strategy to support the community, the campaign was developed in collaboration with the Center to boost public awareness by delivering protective information in a simplified and effective manner.
The campaign targeted employees working across various government institutions and sectors. It included launching opinion polls to assess their cybersecurity awareness using the KnowBe4 cybersecurity awareness and measurement platform.
The campaign featured awareness messages addressing scenarios users may encounter in their daily lives, helping them better recognize potential risks and understand the steps they can take to protect themselves. It combined educational content with live activities and interactive digital experiences, supported by electronic campaigns across approved digital and advertising channels to reach a wider audience.
In a statement, the Center emphasized the importance of awareness in this field as a fundamental pillar for protecting individuals and institutions. It noted that enhancing knowledge of digital risks and how to handle them helps people make more informed decisions when using technology and reduces the risk of falling victim to cyber fraud.
The Center added that awareness is a shared responsibility requiring coordinated efforts between government entities and the private sector, and that delivering simplified content related to situations individuals face in their daily lives helps transform knowledge into safe practices that protect their data and privacy.
The Center is committed to supporting initiatives and partnerships that promote cybersecurity culture, raise awareness among various segments of society, and contribute to building a more secure digital environment.
As part of the cooperation, the Center defined the campaign’s overall direction, main themes, and target audience, and approved the awareness content and messages. The Center will oversee the campaign’s implementation and impact assessment, while stc, in coordination with the Center, will provide the necessary platform and interactive tools, manage the activities and experiences, and support the distribution of awareness content through relevant channels.
stc stated that the campaign included presence at various high-traffic public gathering locations, with booths at the Ministries Complex, The Avenues Kuwait, and The Capital Mall throughout the campaign period.
The statement noted that participation in the national campaign reflects the company’s commitment to supporting initiatives that foster a safer digital culture in society. As a provider of telecommunications services and digital solutions, stc considers it its responsibility to leverage its capabilities and digital platforms for the benefit of the community. Collaborating with the Center enables stc to make cybersecurity awareness more accessible while addressing the real-life situations faced by individuals in Kuwait.
He added: “At stc, we believe that cybersecurity awareness is the first line of defense against numerous digital risks. Technology continues to play an increasingly important role in our daily lives, making it more crucial than ever for users to understand how to identify potential threats and adopt safer digital practices. Building a more secure digital environment requires ongoing collaboration between national authorities, the private sector, and members of society. stc will continue to support efforts that help users interact with digital services with greater awareness and confidence.”
