As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance health awareness and support women’s health, the Embassy of the Lebanese Republic in Kuwait organized the second edition of the “Breast Cancer Awareness and Health and Wellness Enhancement” event, in collaboration with the Lebanese Women’s Council in Kuwait. More than 85 women participated, gathering in a friendly and positive atmosphere infused with optimism, love, and solidarity, united by a shared message emphasizing the importance of prevention and caring for women’s physical and mental health.
The Lebanese Ambassador’s wife, Mona Haddad Al-Khouri, opened the meeting with a welcoming speech, reaffirming the Embassy’s commitment to making this initiative an annual, recurring tradition that highlights women’s health and raises awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection. This is based on the belief that awareness and knowledge constitute the first line of defense against the disease.
She stressed that early detection and regular screenings can help save lives, emphasizing that empowering women begins by providing them with accurate information that enables them to make informed decisions regarding their health.
The program included an awareness segment presented by Dr. Joan Hans, which discussed the importance of mental and emotional health and its impact on quality of life. This was followed by a presentation by Dr. Georgette Assaf from Dar Al-Shifa Hospital, who underscored the importance of prevention and regular screenings for the early detection of breast cancer, highlighting the role of early detection in improving treatment outcomes and reducing the disease’s complications.
The event also featured an interactive sports session supervised by trainer Rania Al-Khatib, which encouraged participants to engage in physical activity and incorporate movement into their healthy lifestyle, recognizing it as a positive habit that supports health and wellness alongside medical follow-ups and preventive measures.
One of the most impactful moments of the meeting was the “Tree of Wishes,” which the Embassy dedicated as a space to gather words of hope, prayer, and encouragement. Participants were invited to write down their wishes, personal messages, and prayers for health and recovery, and then hang them on the tree. This gesture expressed solidarity and moral support for every woman facing the challenge of breast cancer, reflecting the belief that kind words and sincere hope can provide strength during difficult times.
At the conclusion of the event, Mona Al-Khouri expressed her sincere gratitude and appreciation to all sponsors and supporters who contributed to the success of the gathering, namely: Hutech and Ali Haydar, Dar Al-Shifa Hospital, trainer Rania Al-Khatib, Dr. Joan Hans, Palm & Berdawny restaurant, KDD, Al-Hajjari, Clarins, illy, Oatly, Nestlé Pure Life, and GTTC. She praised their support and contribution to the success of an initiative carrying a highly significant humanitarian and health message.
The Lebanese Embassy also expressed its appreciation to all participants, partners, and supporters, emphasizing the importance of continuing to organize initiatives that enhance health awareness, encourage prevention and early detection, and support women by spreading knowledge and fostering a culture of caring for both physical and mental health.
