The Salman Al-Dabous Heart Center at Adan Hospital launched a transcatheter tricuspid valve implantation program, coinciding with the organization of a specialized workshop. Two procedures were carried out via the jugular vein in the neck through an incision no larger than one centimeter in diameter.
It was noted that the implantations were performed on two Kuwaiti women in their late seventies, who had severe tricuspid regurgitation and early liver cirrhosis. They underwent transcatheter valve implantation and were discharged from the center the next morning in stable condition, with significant improvement in cardiac function.
The Ministry clarified that this achievement was made possible with the support of the anesthesia and intensive care teams, and under the guidance of the heads of the relevant departments, including Dr. Badr Al-Ayad, Head of the Cardiology Department, Dr. Huda Al-Fudairi, and Dr. Muhammad Shamsah.
