The Royal Court stated that Jordanian King Abdullah chaired a security meeting on Saturday and ordered security forces to respond firmly and pursue those responsible for an attack on a church in Karak Governorate, which resulted in the death and injury of civilians.
The King emphasized that there is no room for leniency when it comes to the lives of Jordanians, reiterating his condemnation of this despicable terrorist act, which is alien to Jordan’s reputation for courage and harmony.
He stressed that the security and safety of Jordanians constitute a red line, affirming that the hand of justice will reach every terrorist, and that such cowardly acts will not, and have not, intimidate Jordan or its people, nor will they undermine their national unity.
He directed relevant authorities to respond firmly and crush the Khawarij and anyone who dares to tamper with the unity of Jordanians, emphasizing the necessity of pursuing and holding accountable, with the full force of the law, anyone who supported or justified this act.
He called for keeping citizens informed on developments in the investigation as they occur, and for firmly countering rumors and misleading information that might exploit this crime to incite fear and discord. He stressed the importance of conducting a comprehensive security assessment of the mechanisms for dealing with terrorist acts and formulating practical measures to enhance security readiness to preemptively counter any similar attempts, highlighting the necessity of enforcing the rule of law and the state’s authority.
The King directed the government and relevant institutions to review policies aimed at combating extremist ideology and intensify efforts to dry up its sources within a systematic plan, in coordination with religious authorities.
