As part of its plan to support gifted and outstanding students, the Ministry of Education is seeking to identify student talents in the field of cybersecurity and nurture these abilities by developing their technical skills in secondary schools.
The Computer Technical Guidance Administration issued a circular to all secondary schools, inviting them to participate in the “Cybersecurity Hackathon 2026,” organized by the Kuwait Technical College. The event aims to enhance students’ cybersecurity skills and discover student talents in modern technology fields.
The circular emphasized the importance of encouraging students to expand into cybersecurity and future technologies, and of supporting computer departments in schools to identify and nurture technical talents, as well as to develop logical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. It set November 1 as the registration deadline for the event, which seeks to provide students with practical experience through challenges that simulate cybersecurity and cyberattack environments. Participation is limited to four students per school, with priority given on a first-come, first-served basis.
The circular stressed the need to nominate outstanding students interested in cybersecurity, and to assign a male or female teacher to supervise and lead the team, with parental consent obtained. It also stipulated that all four students and the supervising teacher must be Kuwaiti nationals.
