Dr. Suad Mohammed Al-Sabah and Sheikh Mubarak Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah received a French delegation at the White Palace, comprising Anne-Claire Logereau, President of the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris; Olivier Goffard, Ambassador of the French Republic to Kuwait; and Thouraya Sa’ad, Advisor for Cooperation and Cultural Affairs and Director of the Institut Français in Kuwait.

During the friendly meeting, the parties discussed cultural relations between Kuwait and France, as well as prospects for cooperation with the Institut du Monde Arabe and the Institut Français, and ways to develop joint initiatives in the fields of literature, arts, heritage, and translation, thereby enhancing communication between creators and cultural institutions in both countries.

The meeting also addressed Dr. Suad Al-Sabah’s presence in French cultural circles and the opportunities offered by the translation of her works to introduce the French reader to Kuwaiti and Arabic poetry, alongside the importance of continuing cultural exchange and encouraging initiatives that bring the two cultures together and open wider spaces for dialogue and knowledge.

Sheikh Mubarak Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah said, “We take pride in our friendship with France and in the fruitful cooperation that unites us with its cultural institutions. We believe that culture gives relationships between peoples a human depth and continuity that renews with every translated book, every exhibition held, and every gathering that brings together thinkers and creators.”

He added, “Dr. Suad Al-Sabah has, through her literary career and cultural initiatives, reinforced the belief in the value of openness to the world and the exchange of knowledge. We look forward to building on this journey through joint projects focused on literature, arts, and heritage preservation, which will give younger generations the opportunity to participate in this dialogue.”

For his part, Ambassador Goffard said, “We are pleased with this meeting with Dr. Suad Al-Sabah and Sheikh Mubarak Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, who share with France bonds of friendship, respect, and cultural cooperation.”

He added, “Dr. Suad Al-Sabah is highly regarded for her creative and intellectual career and her support for intercultural dialogue. Together with the Institut du Monde Arabe and the Institut Français in Kuwait, we look forward to expanding partnerships that bring intellectuals and creators together and bring the public in both countries closer to their diverse cultural experiences.”

The French Republic, represented by the Ministry of Culture, awarded her the “Ordre des Arts et des Lettres” at the rank of Officer in December 2025, in recognition of her literary and intellectual contributions and her commitment to serving culture and fostering dialogue among peoples.

Among the key milestones of this cooperation was the exhibition “A Treasure of Gold: The Dinar Through All Its Eras,” which was inaugurated by Sheikh Mubarak Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah and then-President of the Institut du Monde Arabe, Jack Lang, in Paris in September 2022. The exhibition featured 425 gold coins from Sheikh Mubarak’s private collection.
