Real Madrid’s Portuguese manager, Jose Mourinho, expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance following a dominant 4-1 victory over German visitors RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League. He also addressed the upcoming “Clasico” against league leaders Barcelona next Sunday, describing it as just another match.
Real Madrid secured their third consecutive win in the continental competition, with a brace from Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva (44th minute), Turkish forward Arda Guler (52nd), French striker Kylian Mbappe (83rd), and Ivorian defender Youssouf Fofana (87th), who scored against his former club. Teddy Gomis (85th) scored for Leipzig.
Regarding Fofana’s contribution with a goal and an assist, Mourinho said: “Fofana came onto the pitch focused on this match, not the Clasico.”
On Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior, he added: “He had a good game. He returned to defensive support effectively and almost scored a stunning goal. Is he upset? Only he can express his feelings, but his coach is pleased with his performance.”
As for the Clasico, the Real Madrid manager stated: “When we talk about the Clasico, the word ‘confidence’ is not the most accurate description. It is just another league match, although it is fair to say it is not like the others.”
