Kuwait Metals and Manufacturing Company signed a plastic waste management contract with Equate Petrochemical Company, under which Metals will manage and recycle the plastic waste generated by Equate’s industrial operations, in line with both parties’ commitment to enhancing environmental sustainability and optimizing resource use in Kuwait’s industrial sector.

The agreement includes providing 20 containers dedicated to collecting this waste at Equate’s facilities, which will be periodically transported to Metals’ facilities for sorting, processing, and recycling in accordance with the highest environmental standards.

Metals leads Kuwait’s plastic recycling sector, maintaining its leadership by supplying a wide range of plastic raw materials to numerous local and international plastic converters. The company works closely with its clients to understand and meet their specific needs, and takes pride in offering an extensive selection of high-quality, medium-grade, and low-grade industrial-grade virgin and recycled plastic granules.

Metals collaborates with several petrochemical plants to process and prepare scrap and non-specification plastics, leveraging extensive transportation capabilities and specialized machinery for washing plastic scrap, thereby ensuring the highest levels of quality and value for the products it supplies.

On his part, Tariq Al-Mousa, Vice Chairman and CEO of Metals, stated: “Industrial sustainability is at the core of Metals’ operations, as we strive to enable our clients and partners to balance operational activities with environmental impact and social responsibility, whether through the waste management and recycling solutions we provide or by leveraging our advanced facilities to support environmental and industrial initiatives. Today, we are pleased to partner with Equate and support its efforts in managing and recycling the plastic waste generated by its industrial operations.”

Metals is currently developing the Abdullah Port Industrial Environmental Complex to support sustainable industrial infrastructure and logistics in Kuwait, in alignment with the “New Kuwait 2035” vision, through partnerships with government entities, research centers, and academic institutions.
