A new wave of anxiety and panic has spread among medical circles worldwide after the Ebola virus appeared in a new country, marking its continued spread and outbreak across five different nations. This has raised concerns that the situation could spiral out of control and bring the world back to the “coronavirus” scenario that swept the globe in 2020.

A report published by the British newspaper Daily Mirror, which was reviewed by Al Arabiya Net, stated that deaths from the epidemic have so far exceeded 4,600 cases, noting that Nigerian authorities had identified the first confirmed case in the country.

The Nigerian Ministry of Health announced the registration of an Ebola virus infection in the capital, Abuja, after a patient who had arrived from Uganda tested positive for the virus.

The patient was admitted to a private hospital in Abuja before his Ebola diagnosis was confirmed.

Health Minister Muhammad Bati stated that authorities had begun tracing 44 individuals who had been in contact with the patient.

In Kenya, nine cases and one death were recorded, while Uganda reported 20 cases and two deaths. A single case was also identified in France. Uganda later announced that it had become free of the virus.
