Dr. Subaih Al-Makhzoum, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, stated that the success of the energy sector’s transformation is measured by our ability to translate plans into tangible projects on the ground. He made these remarks while chairing the third meeting of the Supreme Energy Committee, which reviewed the progress of its technical teams and examined the outputs of the consultancy study on the 2035 Energy Sector Transformation Implementation Plan.
The Committee reviewed the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy’s presentation on the progress of the technical teams’ follow-up unit, which included the framework, achievements of the three technical teams, key challenges they face, and the directives required from the Committee to support ongoing work.
The Committee also reviewed the presentation submitted by the Kuwait Foundation for Advanced Sciences regarding the outputs of the consultancy study for the 2035 Energy Sector Transformation Implementation Plan. The presentation covered targets for 2035 and 2060, the Growth Charter, the project portfolio, policies and studies, as well as the governance model and performance indicators.
The Minister added that the success of the energy sector’s transformation is measured by our ability to translate plans into real-world projects that enhance supply reliability, improve resource efficiency, and support energy mix diversification and the expansion of renewable energy, in line with Kuwait’s priorities and developmental needs.
Al-Makhzoum emphasized the importance of setting implementation priorities, clarifying roles and responsibilities among relevant entities, and linking work phases to measurable performance indicators. This approach enables progress monitoring, addresses challenges, and supports timely decision-making.
He stressed that the achievements made today in the energy sector will have lasting impacts on future generations, necessitating continued teamwork to build a more efficient, flexible, and sustainable energy system that supports Kuwait’s development trajectory.
