Ivorian winger Yane Diomande etched his name into history with Real Madrid, becoming the youngest player of the 21st century to score and assist in a single La Liga match, at the age of 19 years and 338 days, during a 4-1 victory over Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Matchday 9.
Diomande, who started in place of the suspended Brazilian Vinícius Júnior, provided the assist for the opening goal, which was scored by Turkish midfielder Arda Güler with a brilliant strike in the 30th minute. He then added his own goal in the 82nd minute to complete the team’s four-goal haul, following a pass from French midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni.
With this achievement, Diomande surpassed the record set by Englishman Jude Bellingham in August 2023, when he scored two goals and provided one assist in Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over Almería, at the age of 20 years and 51 days. Diomande is now the youngest player in the current century to combine scoring and assisting in a single La Liga match for the club.
Diomande’s attacking contributions capped off a standout night for Real Madrid, who asserted their dominance over Sevilla. French striker Kylian Mbappé scored twice, raising his tally to nine goals and topping the league’s scoring charts, further bolstering the team’s victory. The three points moved Real Madrid to third place with 21 points, one point behind local rivals Atlético Madrid and six points behind leaders and defending champions Barcelona.
This milestone marks an important step in Diomande’s career at Real Madrid, as he has already etched his name among the club’s records at a young age, surpassing Bellingham’s feat, who previously captured attention with his performances in his debut season with the team.
