Kuwait expressed its strong condemnation of the brutal practices of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, while reiterating its firm and strongly condemned stance against the terrorist attacks carried out by Houthi militias against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This came in a statement delivered by Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its Consul General in Jeddah, Yousef Al-Tineb, on Sunday, at the 52nd meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers held in Baghdad.
Al-Tineb stated that the meeting is taking place amid a serious escalation in the Palestinian issue, which faces systematic attempts to impose a new reality on the ground that ignores the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and constitutes a blatant violation of international resolutions and charters.
He added, “The ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, accompanied by a systematic blockade and destruction of infrastructure, forced displacement, deliberate targeting of civilians and hospitals, and the prevention of humanitarian aid delivery, constitutes a grave violation of the principles of international law and an attempt to impose a policy of fait accompli by force at the expense of the fixed, inalienable rights of the Palestinian people. We firmly reject attempts to displace the Palestinian people and strongly condemn the brutal practices of the Israeli occupation.”
Regarding the situation in Yemen, Al-Tineb said, “Kuwait strongly condemns and denounces the terrorist attacks launched by Houthi militias against the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which have resulted in the deaths of innocent civilians, damage to infrastructure, attacks on airports, as well as assaults targeting Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah. These acts constitute a blatant violation and a serious breach of the principles of international law and Islamic and human values.”
He noted that “Kuwait reaffirms its full solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its steadfast support alongside it in all measures taken to safeguard its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and to protect civilians and Islamic holy sites. It emphasized that the security and stability of the Kingdom are a fundamental pillar for the security and stability of the region.”
He stressed the necessity of confronting the phenomenon of Islamophobia and called for intensifying international efforts to halt hate speech and incitement against Islam and Muslims, and to protect religious freedoms within the framework of international law.
Concluding his remarks, the head of the delegation urged OIC member states to take practical and effective positions in defending Islamic peoples, safeguarding their rights, and protecting their holy sites from threats. He pointed out that “history does not forget, and our peoples are waiting and will not accept anything less than a genuine collective movement that reflects their aspirations, preserves their dignity, and safeguards their identity.”
