Arabia.net - Flames fanned by strong winds swept through million-dollar homes in southern Los Angeles yesterday, as a fast-spreading fire consumed hundreds of hectares.
Video footage showed houses engulfed in flames and thick plumes of smoke rising above dry, brush-covered hills, where the fire was fueled by powerful Santa Ana winds, low humidity, and temperatures above seasonal averages.
The Orange County Fire Authority said the “Norte” fire had burned approximately 465 acres.
The National Weather Service warned of “risks of widespread, rapidly spreading wildfires,” particularly in Los Angeles and Ventura counties, as well as mountainous areas and hills in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties.
