Barcelona coach Hans-Dieter Flick, whose team is the Spanish league champion, expressed his satisfaction with his side’s performance and their 4-1 victory over Turkish hosts Galatasaray in the second matchday of the unified UEFA Champions League group stage, but he stressed the need for improvement in the final third.
After the match, Flick said: “We are very happy with the result. We delivered a good performance, even in the first half (1-1).”
He added: “They had one chance and converted it, but we managed to get back into the game, which was crucial.”
Flick continued: “I believe that in the Champions League, even when we play well, there are situations where we don’t make the right decisions in the final third of the pitch.”
He went on to emphasize the need to improve efficiency despite Barcelona’s strong start: “We need to improve in this area. The task was not easy on this pitch and in this atmosphere, but I am very pleased.”
Barcelona secured their tenth consecutive win across all competitions since the start of the current season (eight in La Liga and two in the Champions League).
