US President Donald Trump renewed his warnings to Tehran, asserting that he intends to deliver a “severe blow” to Iran. Meanwhile, two senior Iranian officials claimed that their country has adopted new tactics to target ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, in an effort to keep oil prices high and influence the US midterm elections scheduled for November 3.

Trump made these remarks during a campaign rally in Wasilla, Alaska, on Tuesday evening, stating, “The war with Iran will end soon, and the United States intends to deliver a severe blow to them,” adding, “We have run out of patience with them.”

These comments came as US and Israeli sources revealed that Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed the possibility of launching a new large-scale military operation against Iran in the week prior, ahead of the Israeli elections and the US midterms, according to Axios.

In the same context, the US State Department confirmed on Tuesday evening that the United States had cut off the Iranian regime’s ability to transfer funds and supplies to its proxies, noting that Tehran no longer possesses the necessary money to support them or the capacity to deliver it.

US State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott told Al Arabiya that the Iranian regime is no longer able to transfer supplies and funds to affiliated entities, affirming that Washington has succeeded in severing this capability. He added that the Iranian regime “has no money and cannot deliver it to its proxies,” reinforcing the US position regarding Tehran’s ability to continue providing financial support and supplies to its allies.

In Tehran, two senior Iranian officials told Reuters that Iran has begun using new offensive tactics to target ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, but they declined to provide details about the new strategy. One of them stated that “Tehran began using different offensive tactics against ships it considers to be violating its restrictions about 10 days ago,” adding that the new strategy involved changes in the type and frequency of attacks, with one of its objectives being to influence the outcome of the US elections.

According to Reuters, a US military official, who requested anonymity, confirmed that Iran has fundamentally changed its tactics, with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps beginning to employ unarmed observers on small boats to monitor potential targets, including ships belonging to the US Navy.

In Islamabad, Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al Busaidi confirmed that talks with the Iranian side regarding the management and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz were nearing completion.

Al Jazeera Net quoted Al Busaidi as saying that any agreements would remain pending until talks between Iran and the United States are completed to reach a permanent settlement regarding navigation in the strait.

At a press conference with his Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar, Al Busaidi emphasized the importance of dialogue, diplomacy, and resolving disputes to prevent further escalation.
