Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said on Wednesday that “God protected Egypt during the difficult turning points it experienced between 2011 and 2013, and granted its people a new opportunity to preserve its state and restore its course.”
Speaking at the 44th educational seminar, titled “Land of Heroes,” held in Cairo on the anniversary of the October victories, he said, “Egypt fought a defensive war to protect its land and regained all its territories. Egypt’s primary and ultimate goal is to safeguard its security and stability and protect the resources of its people. The Egyptian state harbors no hidden agendas, and its fundamental priority is to preserve its borders and national security within a framework of peace and stability.”
He added that the peace treaty signed between Egypt and Israel constitutes the governing framework for relations between the two sides, emphasizing that Egypt has no ambitions against anyone.
He clarified that Egypt’s adoption of the two-state solution is based on a steadfast vision and firm conviction that this path represents the realistic means to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region, and to establish a respected Palestinian state and a respected Israeli state. This is not a new proposal, but rather Egypt’s vision for ensuring stability for generations to come.
He further stated that “Egypt aims to de-escalate tensions in the region, find a solution to the crisis in the Gulf, and achieve security and stability for our brothers in the Gulf states,” stressing that “the national security of Gulf states is an inseparable part of Egypt’s national security, just as Egypt’s national security is an extension of Gulf national security. In light of this, Egypt supports its brothers in the Gulf states and is prepared to do everything necessary to de-escalate tensions, secure navigation, and restore stability to the region.”
He called on Egyptians to “cling to their homeland, strengthen their awareness, and fortify their country against attempts at targeting and conspiracy,” emphasizing that preserving the state is the primary national responsibility for everyone, and adding, “Fortify your country against this conspiracy... and I do not say, fortify the president.”
