Under the patronage of Dr. Jasem Al-Ali, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the Council of Private Universities, the Kuwait College of Science and Technology (KCST) opened the proceedings of the Third International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Green Energy (IEEE ICAIGE’26) on Tuesday. This edition of the conference runs concurrently with the Third Forum on Smart, Sustainable, and Secure Internet of Things (S4IoT’26), as part of a scientific event that will continue until October 15 at the college’s headquarters.
This year’s edition received 120 research papers submitted by 30 countries, reflecting international interest in the conference’s themes and facilitating the exchange of knowledge and expertise among researchers in the fields of smart technologies and sustainable energy. The conference is organized in partnership with Arab and international universities and is sponsored by global organizations such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Dr. Jasem Al-Ali, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the Council of Private Universities, emphasized that the S4IoT 2026 conference constitutes an advanced scientific platform reflecting the rapid developments in the fields of the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and sustainable energy, as well as the opportunities and challenges they present, which necessitate strengthening scientific research and integration between academic institutions and technical and professional sectors.
He noted that the General Secretariat of the Council of Private Universities places special importance on supporting scientific initiatives and conferences that contribute to the development of the higher education system, enhancing the quality of its outputs, and fostering a research and innovation environment. This includes encouraging private higher education institutions to keep pace with scientific and technological advancements and to build strategic partnerships that facilitate knowledge transfer and expertise exchange.
He added that this direction aligns with the Secretariat’s commitment to supporting higher education institutions and enhancing their capacity to prepare qualified competencies capable of meeting future demands, thereby contributing to consolidating the knowledge economy and supporting development pathways in the State of Kuwait.
For his part, Professor Dr. Khaled Al-Baqain, President of the Kuwait College of Science and Technology, delivered a speech during the opening ceremony, stating that since its inception, KCST has been keen on organizing and hosting global scientific and research conferences, believing in the importance of the role of scientific research in learning, motivating students, and keeping them updated with the latest scientific developments.
The organization of the Smart, Sustainable, and Secure Internet of Things conferences coincides with the Artificial Intelligence and Green Energy conference as a continuation of these efforts. The significance of these conferences lies in the fact that many of the topics to be discussed are at the core of scientific and economic progress in the world and the region, serving as fundamental pillars for many future projects, including smart and sustainable cities and intelligent transportation systems. They also contribute to enhancing productive and manufacturing capabilities in the future, aligning with Kuwait’s aspirations to become a distinguished technological hub in line with Kuwait Vision 2035.
The scientific program focuses on four main axes: artificial intelligence and its applications; renewable energy, distributed generation, and smart grids; digital transformation in the field of green energy; and fault diagnosis and techniques for maintaining operation during faults in renewable energy systems and electric vehicles.
The program also includes two specialized scientific workshops. The first addresses the application of artificial intelligence in the Internet of Energy and smart energy routing within networks, while the second focuses on the use of interpretable artificial intelligence in predicting sustainable energy production, thereby linking research topics to their practical applications.
What distinguishes these conferences is that all accepted papers, after the peer-review process, will be published in IEEE Xplore, one of the leading international scientific publishing platforms of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Hosting this event aligns with the Kuwait College of Science and Technology’s commitment to supporting scientific research, fostering academic collaboration, and providing opportunities for researchers and specialists to engage in discussions on technological advancements and their applications in the fields of energy and sustainability.
