The Kazakh Ambassador to Kuwait, Yerzhan Yelkibayev, met with Barathan Pasupathy, Chief Executive Officer of Jazeera Airways, to discuss opportunities for enhancing air connectivity between the two countries. The discussions focused on the importance of resuming direct flights to support tourism and trade, strengthen people-to-people ties, and consolidate bilateral relations between Kuwait and Kazakhstan.

According to a statement from Jazeera Airways, Yelkibayev noted that Kazakhstan possesses attractive tourism assets for Kuwaiti travelers, thanks to its unique natural environment, advanced tourism infrastructure, and diverse entertainment options. He emphasized that direct air connectivity would play a crucial role in leveraging these potentials.

He stated, “I am confident that resuming direct flights, when conditions permit, will give a new boost to mutual tourism flows and enhance commercial and economic relations, including facilitating increased exports of Kazakh products to the Kuwaiti market. It will also contribute to strengthening ties between the business communities in our two countries.”

Jazeera Airways began operating flights to Almaty in 2021. Although operations were suspended later, Kazakhstan remains an important market for the airline. The company values the strong relations between the two countries and recognizes the vital role that direct air connectivity plays in supporting tourism, business, and broader bilateral ties.

The statement concluded that Jazeera Airways continues to enhance and expand its destination network by launching new routes and resuming previous ones in response to passenger demand and market opportunities, while also supporting Kuwait’s position as a growing regional hub for air transport.
