The Court of Appeal’s State Security Division, presided over by Advisor Abdullah Al-Sanea and with Advisors Mohammed Jafar and Hamad Al-Badr as members, issued several rulings in State Security cases. It sentenced an Egyptian defendant to five years in prison for charges of belonging to the Daesh (ISIS) group, receiving training in the use of explosives and sticky bombs with the intent to harm the country’s national interests, planning to bomb Hussainiyas in Kuwait, and publicly insulting and defaming the Amir.

The court upheld the acquittal of a lawyer charged with inciting sectarian strife and disparaging the Shia sect in Kuwait. It also annulled the acquittal of a citizen accused of expressing sympathy during Iran’s reprehensible attacks on Kuwait, and again ordered his release on bail pending sentencing.
