As the “Yemen Dawn” operation advanced on Monday, dozens of people were killed and wounded, mostly Houthi militants, in airstrikes and clashes with legitimate government forces in Taiz province over the past 24 hours.
Al Arabiya and Al Hadath correspondents reported that airstrikes in Taiz targeted concentrations in Dhibhan, Hijat al-Abd, Hifan, Akmat Habish, and Al-Dabab, as well as positions in Al-Arasim, Al-Maraziqan, Jabal Al-Mun’am, Tabat Al-Khalwa, Al-Sittin Street, and the Central Security Camp.
Alongside the fighting in Taiz, government forces continued their targeted operations on the Marib and Al-Jawf fronts. The Yemeni military announced that thousands of aerial, artillery, and drone strikes had been carried out since the launch of offensive operations, resulting in the deaths and injuries of large numbers of Houthi militants, according to Yemeni military data.
In a related development, the Yemeni Ministry of Interior announced on Monday evening that it had dismantled terrorist Houthi cells in the interim capital of Aden and the provinces of Lahej and Abyan on September 26.
Interior Minister Brigadier General Ibrahim Haidan stated during a press conference in Aden that the cell, comprising 18 members, had been planning to target security and military leaders and critical infrastructure, as well as attack military reinforcements and supply lines heading to the front lines.
He added in a statement on Monday evening that a ballistic missile launched by Houthi militias toward Riyadh had been intercepted.
The suspension of airport operations followed brutal Houthi attacks that resulted in deaths and injuries of individuals of various nationalities, as well as material damage currently being assessed.
Diplomatically, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman received a phone call on Monday from Jordanian King Abdullah II, who conveyed Jordan’s condemnation of the terrorist attacks carried out by the Houthi militia against the Kingdom.
King Abdullah also affirmed Jordan’s full support for the Kingdom in confronting all threats to its security and the safety of its citizens and residents, and expressed Jordan’s complete backing for the measures taken to protect the country’s assets.
