Saudi Arabia: Two Attacks Target King Khalid Airport Facilities and Saudi Airlines Plane

The General Authority of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia announced that King Khalid International Airport was subjected to two attacks yesterday, Thursday. The first attack targeted airport facilities, while the second targeted a Saudi Airlines aircraft. Emergency teams and relevant authorities immediately responded to the attacks in accordance with approved procedures and plans.

In a statement, the authority said the two attacks resulted in the martyrdom of three Saudi citizens and injured a number of citizens and residents of various nationalities, with injuries ranging from minor to severe. They were promptly transported to hospitals to receive necessary medical care. The attacks also caused some material damage.

The authority emphasized that work continues in close coordination with relevant security agencies to assess the damage and take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of passengers and staff, and to safeguard the security and integrity of the Kingdom’s civil aviation system. It noted that operational operations at the airport have resumed and air traffic has returned to normal.
