South Korean President Oversees First Test of Locally Developed Hypersonic Missile

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol oversaw the first test launch of a locally developed hypersonic missile, according to a statement issued by the presidential office yesterday, Thursday.
The missile test, which involves a weapon capable of maneuvering and altering its trajectory mid-flight, comes days after North Korea announced that its leader, Kim Jong Un, also oversaw the test of a medium-range hypersonic missile.
Yoon wrote in a Facebook post, “Today, we successfully conducted the first test launch of a hypersonic missile developed using our own technologies. I am truly proud of this achievement.”
