The Ministry of Interior announced that the Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations, succeeded in arresting suspects in two separate cases. The first case involves drug trafficking, while the second concerns the operation of unlicensed activities and possession of state-subsidized food supplies. These arrests are part of continuous security efforts to combat crime and apprehend lawbreakers.
In the first case, the Sabah Al-Nasser Criminal Investigation Office, under the Al-Farwaniya Governorate Criminal Investigations Department, arrested a Sri Lankan national who worked as a driver in a private residence. This followed intelligence reports indicating that he was selling drugs in the Aradiya area. Investigations and a review of surveillance cameras revealed that he distributed the drugs while delivering furniture for his employer, exploiting the nature of his job to avoid suspicion.
He was arrested in possession of bags containing methamphetamine. Following his cooperation and in coordination with the homeowner, additional quantities were found inside his room at the residence where he worked. Financial transfers totaling 6,573 Kuwaiti Dinars to individuals in Sri Lanka were also seized. The suspect confessed to possessing the seized substances with the intent to traffic and sell them, in collaboration with an individual outside the country. The Ministry of Interior called on families and employers to monitor domestic workers and ensure that the nature of their work or the homes they work in are not exploited to engage in prohibited or criminal activities, urging them to report any suspicious behavior to the relevant authorities.
In the second case, the Al-Ahmadi Governorate Criminal Investigations Department arrested a Bangladeshi national who worked at a gas station. Investigations confirmed the accuracy of information regarding his engagement in unlicensed activities. He was apprehended while exchanging and converting currencies for travelers without a license.
A search of his residence uncovered state-subsidized food supplies. It was also revealed that he was selling cigarettes and printing papers and documents for travelers arriving in and departing from the country, without obtaining the necessary permits from the competent authorities.
