“Russia Today” – A teenager survived an attack by a bear in Russia’s Altai region, in the southeastern part of western Siberia, thanks to his phone exploding in the mouth of the attacking bear.
The local investigative committee reported that “a bear attacked a 16-year-old boy and bit his smartphone, causing the device’s battery to explode. This resulted in burns for the teenager, but at the same time frightened the animal.”
The authority added that “the incident occurred when the teenager and his friend went into the forest to check beehives, despite an emergency declared due to the appearance of bears in the area. When the bear emerged, the boy climbed a tree, but the bear reached him and began biting him. At some point, the bear bit the phone held by the teenager, causing its battery to ignite and explode. The teenager was transported to the hospital in critical condition.”
