Xhaka Receives Large Fine in Fake 'COVID-19' Certificate Case

Granit Xhaka, the Sunderland player and former captain of the Swiss national team, announced that a court has issued a ruling against him following the acquisition of a forged COVID-19 vaccination certificate.
The 34-year-old Xhaka clarified that the fine amounts to 50 days’ worth of his income, calculated at 3,000 Swiss francs per day, and noted that the penalty was suspended for two years.
Consequently, the fine will not be enforced during the probationary period, provided the player commits no further offenses over the next two years. He also confirmed that he has already paid the legal costs.
In a statement posted on his social media accounts, Xhaka said he remains committed to taking responsibility for what happened, after previously admitting to having made a “mistake” last September.
