The Ministry of Commerce and Industry conducted two inspection campaigns in the Al-Ahmadi and Capital governorates, resulting in the issuance of 22 violation reports for various infractions and the seizure of 25,000 units of “chewing tobacco,” which is prohibited from being imported, displayed, marketed, or traded.
In a press release, the ministry stated that the inspection team in Al-Ahmadi governorate carried out a round of inspections at several commercial establishments in the Khiran Al-Bahri area, leading to the issuance of 19 violation reports for various offenses. These included the seizure of counterfeit goods, holding sales and promotional offers on merchandise without prior approval, and failing to clearly and visibly display prices for goods offered for sale to consumers.
It further noted that, as part of ongoing joint campaigns between the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Interior, the Capital and Hawalli governorates’ emergency inspection team conducted “Shift A” inspections at several grocery stores in the Capital governorate. This resulted in the seizure of 25,000 units of “chewing tobacco,” classified as a prohibited commodity for import, display, marketing, or trade. Additionally, three violation reports were issued against the offenders, and all necessary legal measures were taken.
