The Kingdom of Bahrain expressed its full support for the position of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its efforts to lead the coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen, as well as to back the Presidential Leadership Council and the legitimate Yemeni government in ending the coup, restoring the state and its institutions, freeing Yemen from the threat of terrorism, and achieving a comprehensive political solution in accordance with the three reference points.
In a statement, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned and denounced the continued brazen attacks by the terrorist Houthi militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, targeting civilians and civilian and economic infrastructure, and encroaching upon the holiest sites in Islam (Mecca and Medina). These attacks included the capital Riyadh and the cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, Najran, Taif, and Yanbu, as well as Saudi ships in the southern Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
The Ministry affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken to protect its security, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens and residents, in exercise of its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
It emphasized that the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of the security of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states under the Joint Defense Agreement.
The Ministry called on the UN Security Council, particularly its permanent members, to fulfill their responsibilities in halting these attacks and the threats they pose to the security of maritime navigation and energy supplies, and to ensure the full implementation of its relevant resolutions, foremost among them Resolutions 2216 and 2817, thereby preserving regional and international peace and security.
