The Kuwait Stock Exchange, the strategic partner and official sponsor of the CFA Institute Research Challenge in Kuwait, organized the “Ring the Bell for Financial Literacy” event, in partnership with the University of Kuwait team, which won first place in the fifth edition of the challenge in Kuwait.
The event is part of the Exchange’s participation in the tenth edition of the “Global Investor Week,” and within the framework of the third edition of its “The Bell” initiative, reaffirming its commitment to enhancing investment awareness and nurturing young talents.
During the challenge, students prepared a comprehensive study of Al-Mabani Company, covering its operations, financial data, and valuation, culminating in an investment recommendation and a presentation of their research findings before a panel of investment sector specialists.
Including the winning team in the bell-ringing ceremony reflects the Kuwait Stock Exchange’s appreciation of the students’ achievements, highlights the value of experiential learning in preparing young talents, and encourages more university students to develop their research, financial analysis skills, and readiness for careers in the investment sector.
The Kuwait Stock Exchange continues to sponsor the challenge for the third consecutive year, as the first strategic partner and official sponsor in Kuwait. The CFA Institute Kuwait Society organizes the local competitions for the challenge as part of the global institute’s contest. This collaboration reflects the Exchange’s commitment to building educational and professional partnerships that contribute to human capital development and enhance the readiness of young talents for the financial and investment sectors.
Commenting on the event, Nasser Al-Sanousi, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at the Kuwait Stock Exchange, said: “The development of the capital market is linked to participants’ ability to understand information, evaluate opportunities, and assess risks. Therefore, at the Kuwait Stock Exchange, we ensure that market development goes hand in hand with investment in knowledge and competencies, through initiatives that provide young people with practical experience and help investors make informed decisions based on research and reliable information.”
He added: “We are proud of our strategic partnership and official sponsorship of the Research Challenge in Kuwait, which offers students the opportunity to apply their knowledge and adhere to professional practice standards and ethics. We congratulate the University of Kuwait team on this achievement and appreciate the efforts of the challenge organizers and student supervisors. Their participation with us in the bell-ringing ceremony underscores our belief in the capabilities of the next generation and their role in the future of Kuwait’s financial and investment sector.”
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that provides university students with practical experience in financial analysis and professional ethics. Participants assume the role of financial analysts by studying a listed company, preparing a research report, and presenting their recommendations, benefiting from academic guidance and professional mentoring. The competition begins locally, then progresses through qualifying rounds to regional and global finals, where nearly 100 countries and more than 1,100 universities, represented by over 7,000 students, compete for the title.
The initiative enables students to understand how to move from data to evidence-based conclusions, test the assumptions underlying their assessments, and clearly articulate their views before specialists. In doing so, it combines the development of technical skills with the reinforcement of accuracy, objectivity, and responsibility in preparing investment research, practices that are linked to the quality of information relied upon by market participants.
For his part, Al-Badr stated, “At Kuwait University, we strive to empower students to read financial data, understand company performance, and evaluate firms. The research challenge gives them the opportunity to apply this knowledge to a listed company, test their ability to build a comprehensive analysis, and present their findings to specialists, thereby strengthening the link between what they learn at university and the requirements of work in the investment sector.”
He added, “The initiative helps develop students’ skills in research, analysis, and teamwork, and gives them greater confidence in presenting and discussing their ideas. We extend our thanks to the CFA Institute and its Kuwait Society for organizing the challenge, and to the Kuwait Stock Exchange for its strategic partnership, official sponsorship, and continuous support for students, providing them with this opportunity.”
The tenth edition of “Global Investor Week” will take place from October 5 to 11, 2026, under the theme “Invest in Your Future, Protect It Today.”
The International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) leads this campaign to enhance investor education and protection, with the participation of regulatory bodies, financial and academic institutions, and other stakeholders worldwide. The 2025 edition saw the participation of 137 entities from 118 countries and markets, reflecting the broadening of international cooperation in this field.
The 2026 campaign focuses on three main pillars: investor resilience, digital deception, and fraud awareness, along with two complementary educational pillars covering investment basics and young investors and the next generation. These topics underscore the importance of verifying the reliability of information, understanding investment risks, and engaging consciously with financial content circulating through digital channels, amid the increasing use of technology and artificial intelligence.
The Kuwait Stock Exchange participates in the campaign as a member of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) and an associate member of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). The bell-ringing event falls under the World Federation of Exchanges’ initiative “Ring the Bell for Financial Literacy,” which supports the objectives of Global Investor Week and highlights the role of stock exchanges in expanding learning opportunities and enhancing awareness among market participants.
Commenting on the global campaign, Jean-Paul Servais, Chairman of the Board of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), said, “Investor protection remains at the core of IOSCO’s mission. As Global Investor Week reaches its tenth edition, the campaign continues to address the most critical issues for individual investors. This year’s themes reflect investors’ need to remain resilient amid changing market conditions, verify the credibility of investment information they encounter online, and stay vigilant against increasingly complex fraud schemes.”
The Kuwait Stock Exchange translates the objectives of the global campaign into local activities through the third edition of the “Bell” initiative, organized throughout October 2026 in collaboration with the Institute, the Society, the Investment Companies Union (UIC), InvestGB, Kuwait University, and Kuwait Credit Information Network Company (CII).
The initiative offers interactive sessions, workshops, educational programs, and digital content targeting investors, students, and young people, covering the fundamentals of investment, market monitoring, and credit culture, alongside exchange-traded index funds, fixed-income markets, and entrepreneurship. The activities focus on simplifying concepts and linking them to practical applications, helping the public understand financial options and the associated risks.
The initiative’s activities complement the fifth season of the “Al-Jars” podcast and the Stock Academy, enabling access to content through multiple channels and supporting continuous learning beyond the events. Since its launch in 2024, the initiative has collaborated with more than 10 entities, reaching over 2,000 beneficiaries, while the podcast has garnered more than 2 million views across its four seasons, expanding the reach of financial knowledge beyond live events.
These efforts align with the Kuwait Stock Exchange’s strategy for corporate sustainability and its commitment to supporting education and capacity building through partnerships that bring together professional, academic, and investment institutions.
