- Arakelian: The flights will support cooperation between the two countries and boost tourism

- Basapathi: Armenia has proven to be a preferred destination for our customers

Gulf Air announced the resumption of its direct flights between Kuwait and the Armenian capital, Yerevan, starting December 3, 2026, thereby restoring direct air connectivity with one of the preferred destinations within Gulf Air’s network.

The airline will initially operate two flights per week, increasing to three weekly flights from December 22, 2026, offering travelers more options and easier direct access to Armenia’s snowy winter during the peak travel season.

Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Kuwait, Dr. Arsen A. Arakelian, said: “Armenia welcomes Gulf Air’s decision to resume direct flights connecting our two friendly countries, Kuwait and Armenia. We are confident that these flights will significantly contribute to enhancing mutual cooperation in the interests of both countries, as well as boosting tourism between the two destinations.”

Yerevan was among the destinations that saw strong demand within Gulf Air’s network during its previous operation period, with robust traveler interest.

Parathan Basapathi, CEO of Gulf Air, said: “We are pleased to welcome Yerevan back into Gulf Air’s network. Armenia has proven to be a preferred destination for our customers, and the strong demand we previously experienced on this route gives us great confidence in its return. By resuming direct flights between Kuwait and Yerevan, we are restoring an important link that connects the two destinations directly, supporting tourism and trade and strengthening the ties between our two countries.”

He added: “We look forward to working closely with our partners in Kuwait and Armenia, including the travel sector, government authorities, airports, and tourism stakeholders, to boost demand and ensure the long-term success and sustainability of this route.”

Yerevan combines historical landmarks with vibrant modern life, as well as easy access to mountainous areas and the winter attractions and activities for which Armenia is known.

With a flight time of approximately two hours from Kuwait, Yerevan is an ideal choice for travelers seeking a nearby destination and a different winter experience.

The resumption of flights supports tourism, travel, and trade between Kuwait and Armenia, and enhances people-to-people ties between the two nations. It also provides travelers from Kuwait and the region with convenient access to Armenia’s rich history, culture, distinctive cuisine, and its growing year-round tourism offerings.
