Jeff Bezos Adds $136 Billion to Wealth, Regains Spot as World's Richest

Arabic - Jeff Bezos managed to reclaim the second spot on Forbes’ real-time billionaire list, a notable contrast during September, which witnessed significant volatility in technology and artificial intelligence stocks, as several companies faced pressure linked to high valuations and growing concerns over massive spending on AI infrastructure.
According to the latest Forbes list data, the Amazon founder’s wealth rose to $371 billion, placing him second behind Elon Musk and ahead of Larry Page, whose net worth stands at $281.1 billion.
Bezos’s wealth surge was driven primarily by the rise in Amazon’s market value since the beginning of the year, as the bulk of his fortune remains tied to his substantial stake in the company. The increase in Amazon’s stock added approximately $136 billion to Bezos’s wealth.
Amazon benefited from growing investor confidence in its ability to convert AI investments into actual cash flows through its cloud computing arm, AWS.
Management statements indicate that the company’s AI business and its custom chip operations each exceeded an annual revenue run rate of more than $25 billion, while AWS revenues grew by 37% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026.
The company also bolstered its AI bets by raising its capital expenditure plan related to this technology to around $220 billion in 2026, up from a previous estimate of $200 billion.
However, Amazon’s situation appeared relatively different. The market did not view the company merely as a major AI investor, but rather as a beneficiary of rising demand for cloud services themselves. It also received additional support from its strategic investments in Anthropic, the developer of AI models.
