Mohamed Abu Al-Wafa, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Kuwait, expressed his deep appreciation for the State of Kuwait’s steadfast commitment to the education sector, its dedication to developing its educational system, and its efforts to elevate the status of teachers and enhance their professional and pedagogical capabilities. He praised the role played by Kuwaiti academic and educational institutions in preparing and qualifying educational cadres and keeping pace with developments in the fields of education and pedagogy.
This statement came during a seminar organized by the Egyptian Cultural Office in Kuwait on Saturday at its premises, titled “The Teacher: A Mission That Transcends Time in the Era of Digital Transformations,” held on the sidelines of Teacher’s Day celebrations. The event featured a distinguished group of academics, educators, and education stakeholders.
Abu Al-Wafa emphasized that honoring teachers represents an appreciation for their noble mission and pivotal role in building human beings and shaping the future of nations. He noted that rapid advancements in technology and artificial intelligence have brought about fundamental changes in educational tools and knowledge acquisition methods; however, these developments have not diminished the importance of the teacher’s role but have instead increased their responsibilities and solidified their status.
He clarified that the teacher’s role is no longer limited to transmitting knowledge and explaining content, but has evolved into that of a genuine partner in shaping students’ personalities, developing their critical thinking, creativity, and innovation skills, enhancing their awareness, and empowering them to interact with modern technology consciously and responsibly.
He stressed that investing in teachers is, in essence, an investment in human capital and the future of societies, highlighting the importance of continuing to develop teachers’ skills to enable them to cope with the rapid transformations in the education system.
For her part, Egyptian Cultural Attaché Dr. Amena Abu Al-Makarim affirmed that technological advancement and artificial intelligence are tools that can enhance teachers’ performance and expand their capabilities, but the core of the educational process remains tied to the human role of the teacher, their ability to understand their students, build their personalities, and nurture their awareness and values.
She commended Kuwait’s focus on preparing teachers and linking them to society from the initial training stage, as well as the initiatives and opportunities it provides for community participation and volunteering, which contribute to preparing teachers who are conscious of their professional and societal roles.
The seminar featured Dr. Ahd Al-Hajri, Associate Professor in the Department of Curricula and Teaching Methods at the College of Basic Education, Kuwait University, and Dr. Reem Yaqoub Al-Tamimi, Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education at the College of Basic Education in Kuwait.
Al-Hajri and Al-Tamimi contributed their academic and professional expertise to enrich the dialogue and open discussions on the challenges posed by digital transformations and ways for educational institutions to keep pace with these changes while preserving the essence of the educational mission and enhancing teachers’ ability to fulfill their roles.
The seminar addressed the teacher’s role amid rapid digital transformations, the relationship between education and artificial intelligence, and included discussions on the future of the teaching profession and the requirements for teacher preparation in the digital age.
The event highlighted the importance of the role played by educational and academic institutions in Kuwait in preparing and qualifying teachers, as well as the significance of linking teachers to society from the initial training stage and providing opportunities for community participation and volunteering that enhance their awareness of their professional and societal missions.
Participants emphasized that digital transformation and artificial intelligence impose a new reality on the educational process; however, the success of this transformation remains dependent on teachers’ ability to utilize modern tools consciously and responsibly, while preserving the human and pedagogical dimensions of education.
