- We take pride in the atmosphere of respect for press freedoms, which we always boast about before the countries of the world.
- We hope that this law will genuinely keep pace with a contemporary media environment in terms of legislation and professionalism.
The Kuwait Journalists Association expressed its hope “that the views and observations of local media institutions regarding the new media regulation law and its executive regulations will receive attention from the executive authority, in order to enhance the progress of our journalism and the prestige of its legacy.”
The association stated in a press release that it closely followed the new media regulation law No. 102 of 2026 after its publication in the Official Gazette, noting that “in principle, the new law addressed the stagnation of the three existing laws and their inability to keep pace with changes in the media sector, which has undergone radical transformations due to technological and digital developments, making it imperative to regulate emerging media activities without delay.”
It added: “Regarding the chapters of the new law, its fifteen chapters and its explanatory memorandum, which emphasized that media freedom will remain a cornerstone of Kuwait’s approach, as well as the fact that new media legislation will safeguard this freedom.”
The association affirmed “the pride of the association’s family and all those working in our media and journalistic institutions in the atmosphere of respect for press freedoms, which we always boast about before the international community. This new law comes to reaffirm this pride, with the hope that it will genuinely keep pace with a contemporary media environment in terms of legislation and professionalism. The slogan of our journalism and media will always remain: (Freedom... Responsibility).”
